Aug. 1928," showing participants in front of the Craven County courthouse; presented in a modern faux wood plastic frame (14-3/4 x 39 in.) (edge chips; some stains from a long-ago liquid spill).

Note: This drawing depicts a post-Civil War mother taking shelter under a tree for the duration of the impending storm where she comforts her two children and their dog. The mother's spreading skirts suggest the stability of her mission a point belied by her and her daughter's anxious expressions which are mirrored by that of the dog.
